Jon Anderson Has Eight New Songs For a Final Yes Reunion Album

Jon Anderson Has Eight New Songs For a Final Yes Reunion Album
Like Al Pacino said in Godfather 3, “Just when I thought I was out, they suck me back in.” But in the case of Yes it’s usually a case of “Its not how you fall down, It’s how you get up.” In Yes it seems most family members eventually come home. We all like to talk about the revolving doors and fans saying Jon Anderson’s time in the group was done and dusted. Well, like we just reported concerning Genesis, you never know.
Rolling Stone magazine just reported on Anderson’s new album “1000 Hands” A project with a great name considering how many guest musicians on there including Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson, Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain, Vanilla Fudge drummer Carmine Appice, Rick Derringer, the Tower of Power horn section, violinist Jean-Luc Ponty and pianist Chick Corea.

This new album was an unfinished album from twenty-nine years ago that Anderson started with his ex-Yes bandmates Chris Squire and Alan White. Producer Michael Franklin approached Anderson about finally finishing the project so he and Anderson recruited all the new crew of musicians to play along with Squire, White, and Anderson including Steve Howe on guitar. Everyone was thinking they’re bad blood between Howe and Anderson because of Jon creating his own version of Yes with Trevor Rabin and Rick Wakeman but maybe they’re all good plus Anderson’s version of the band may be finished. Anderson said, “just called him up and he said he’d love to play on it, I haven’t sang with him in many, many years. It felt really comfortable and cathartic to do that. We’re brothers. Sometimes you don’t understand or misunderstand your brother and want to do different things. I think that is called a family.” Which bring us to a Yes reunion.

First Anderson will go on tour March 29 which he says will be 1/3 the new album, 1/3 Yes songs most likely, “Owner of a Lonely Heart,” “Yours Is No Disgrace,” “Roundabout” and “Sweet Dreams.” And the rest other solo Anderson songs.  Anderson said he.d be open to a Yes reunion. “I’m very open to it, It’s been 50 years now. You think something has got to happen. To me, a great album has to be made. That’s what I think. I don’t know how it’s going to be made, but the final Yes event should happen. I’ve talked to a couple of people about it and they get it. I really want to do this. I’ve even written eight songs for the record that I’m thinking would work with a full orchestra and a choir.” When Anderson was asked if Steve Howe would be open to it he said,  “I don’t know, Maybe he’ll read this article and say ‘Yes’ or ‘No.’ I don’t know.” Steve, the ball is in your court.

Yes were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017 and Anderson was on stage with them. – by John Beaudin

Why Bernie Leadon Is Not In the Current Version Of The Eagles?

Interview Clip #2- Was Bernie Leadon Invited Back Into The Eagles After Glenn Frey’s Death?
July 12, 2019 – When I told some of the followers of this channel that I would be interviewing Bernie Leadon the biggest suggested question was why isn’t he on stage with them now? He left the band after “One of These Nights” in 1975 and was part of the “History Of the Eagles” tour from 2013-2016. So was he asked to come back?

Temptations' Dennis Edwards Dead At 74

Dennis Edwards Of The Temptations Dead at 74
He sang some big ones with the group including “I Can’t Get Next to You,” “Ball of Confusion” and “Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone.” Edwards replaced David Ruffin in 1968 and played with them until 1976 and reunited with the band on a few reunions the following decade.

He actually died in Chicago a day before his birthday. Edwards would have been 75 tomorrow. Edwards was born February 3rd 1943 in Alabama. He was also a member of another soul-singing band that, like the Temptations, were on Motown, the Contours. He was also in the U.S. military before he even walked into Motown in 1966. In 1984 he had a big solo R&B #2 hit called “Don’t Look Any Further,” a duet with Siedah Garrett, he also scored with “(You’re My) Aphrodisiac” and “Coolin’ Out” as a solo artist.

Edwards also toured with Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks using the name “Tribute to the Temptations.” he later got in some legal hot water for using the name ‘Dennis Edwards & the Temptations.” Both he and groups settled with the singer eventually calling his touring show The Temptations Review featuring Dennis Edwards.

Edwards was briefly married to Ruth Pointer, whom he wed in Las Vegas in 1977. They had one daughter Issa Pointer, who became a member of her mother’s vocal group, The Pointer Sisters.

Some reports are saying he passed away in hospital following complications from meningitis. – by John Beaudin

Guitarist Davey Johnstone Says Elton John Saved His Life

Guitarist Davey Johnstone: “Elton John Saved My Life”

http://www.eltonjohn.com/

More on John Beaudin http://www.johnbeaudin.com

http://rockhistorymusic.com

We wonder If Elton John’s long-time guitarist Davey Johnstone has a special place in his heart for the hit “Someone Saved My Life Tonight?” The 1975 tune was not written for Johnstone but it might as well have been.

According to Johnstone Elton did save his life. After losing his nine-year-old son Oliver in a tragic pool accident the guitarist was reinventing the extent of partying to avoid his inner demons.

It all stopped, however, while on tour in Europe. Elton said ‘Why don’t you fly back with me and we’ll spend a couple of days at the house?’ It was to be an informal intervention.

“Then one day he sat me down and said, ‘You should have a look at your life and there might be something you should do to make it better and to honor your kid Oliver’ because I lost a boy when he was nine years old and it almost killed me — as it does any parent who has gone through that awful thing.”

“He said, if you look at your life a little more seriously, instead of just trying to go balls-out every night and having to score a chick or drugs or whatever. It doesn’t have to be that way’. And as a result of listening to Elton, my wife and my kids are happier because they know that they’re not going to see this maniac occasionally appearing.”

Interestingly Johnstone claims to have been on more booze and drug benders than all the member of the Rolling Stones put together but even more interesting the Scottish born guitarist is the only musician that Elton has not sacked in over 40 years. He first joined the band in 1971 for Elton’s fourth album “Madman Across the Water.”

The 64-year-old father of seven is Elton’s Musical Director and saw his boss crashing down the same roads in the 70’s and 80’s but that all stopped 25 years ago.

Elton John is set to release an exciting uptempo album “Wonderful Crazy Night” February 5th and yes Johnstone will be on there as well as longtime drummer Nigel Olsson and percussionist Ray Cooper.

The Elton John band is healthy and happy.
